Mike Montgomery
Thursday, December 18, 2008, 05:50 PM - interview
For some of you, this many be old news, but for many, it probably isn't. Since the Replacement Jam in Cali, this name has been in the posts of a ton of MTB blogs. Why? Because he f'in rips. I've also never heard of Republik, the company he reps -- until now. They ought to be glad to have him. Keep a look out for that name in future events, but for now, here's some video I ripped from Thrash and The Sensus. The Sensus is a new site which is pretty dope, run by the Zink boys, Kyle Strait and Taylor Sage.

For now, the videos:

Logan Peat is a Dirtbag
Wednesday, November 28, 2007, 08:59 AM - interview
Logan Peat has won the 2007 "Be a Dirtbag" contest and will be on the Drop-In tour for next season. With that, everyone in the industry will get to call him a dirtbag until next season, which I'm sure he's pumped about. Anyway, check out his two video submissions that gave him the win, by clicking the links below:

http://www.rip.tv/video/watch/2852
http://www.rip.tv/video/watch/4151

Rip.Tv has a small interview posted with him about his win and how he came to be such a talented rider. I'll post it below, but know that it comes from Rip. Everyone wanted a street rider on there, at least the people in the forums did, and looks like we got one. Stuff a rag in Tremblay's mouth and scissor his hair, and Drop-In is gonna be sick next year. Sorry, that was mean, but I can't help certain things, I'm sure he's cool as hell, but talking isn't why I watch these videos. Don't tell me about a run, show it to me. My rant is done, check the vids, ride your bike...:)

1. Tell us a bit about how you got here in the first place. When did you start riding?
Drop In was what got me started riding. After Drop In's first season, I was really hooked. As mountain biking got more popular, I started entering competitions in 2006, and that led me to where I am today.
2. After hanging out with the Drop In crew at Whistler, what are you looking forward to most on the road?
I am looking forward to traveling to ride new locations and really looking forward to riding with the crew.
3. If you had to, would you drop out of school to go on tour?
No, I have already moved to Alberta for school. It is only a two year program and I am already half way done.
4. Any plans to slay dragons on the trip?
No. I have a girlfriend.
5. Where do you hope the bus takes you?
Wherever the bus goes will be awesome, they have never gone wrong in the past. I would love to try new locations that have not been featured on videos before.
6. Is being on a tv show gonna get you mad chicks?
I don't know, I have never been on TV before.
7. Who was/is you biggest influence in the riding world? Do you think your riding style is reflective of him?
So many riders inspire me, but riders that are pushing the limit and bringing something new to the sport, gain all my respect. Also, I am influenced by the bmx scene, I feel my riding does reflect that.
8. What does your family make of all this biking business?
My family loves the industry just as much as I do. They have come to all my competitions and supported me from day one.
9. Are you going to pitch in on cleaning the bus, or will you request a maid?
Of course I am on board to help clean the bus, but a maid sounds great.

Father of Freestyle
Wednesday, April 25, 2007, 05:30 PM - interview
Inside of Haro's 2007 dealer catalogs comes an issue of "The Haro Source" This issue also features an article on "The Father of Freestyle," Bob Haro himself, founder of Haro Bikes. The interview, much to my disappointment, sucked something awful. Beyond the spelling mistakes and grammatical errors, the questions ask nothing meaningful nor do they evoke anything more than the hint of a good story that won't be told. The beginning of Haro really is a cool story that goes much like "Joe Kid on a Stingray" with more of a freestyle spin on it. Too bad none of that can be found in this.

After my rant, if you still want to read the interview, click the pic and it'll take you there.

Nigel Quarless @ Revolution Freeride
Thursday, January 25, 2007, 06:31 PM - interview
Chris from Revolution Freeride posted a really good article featuring Nigel Quarless in issue #4 of revFR Mag. I'm not sure how old the article is, but it doesn't really matter. Go check it out.

If you've never heard of Revolution Freeride, then it's about time. The site is dedicated to hardtail freeriding and hardtails in general. Long before faith in the hardtail returned to the scene, Chris knew what was up -- the site has been around for 5 or 6 years, providing interviews with mtb pros and up-and-comers as well as full bike reviews on progressive hardtail frames. In short, the site rocks. I don't know how often it get updated anymore, but there's enough content on there to keep your eyes busy for a long while.
