OH, THANK GOD!! For everyone who was heartbroken when we heard that SuperSession 4 wasn't happening in 2008, Atomlab pulls together 2 events to take it's place! Both events take place just before Sea Otter, so there will be riders from all over the world converging on Woodward West. Check the press release that Mike dropped my way...
"Saturday April 11 & Sunday April 12, 2009 - Superslope will be the first Slopestyle contest at Woodward West. The slopestyle course is sure to be a rider favorite with a huge assortment of big drops and massive jumps. We will be taking the already amazing slopestyle playground and grooming it for flow and amplitude. We are also working on a nice big purse. The judging will be done by top pro riders. The event is the weekend before
Sea Otter so you can be sure that it will have an International field.
Saturday April 11 - Qualifying - 2 runs, best run counts
Sunday April 12 - Semifinals/air contest in the morning, Finals in the afternoon. There will be a big party and awards banquet after the finals.
Entry Fee - $100 Click here to register ($150 after March 15)
SUPERSESSION 2009 - April 13-15, 2009, Woodward West
Supersession will be three days between the Superslope contest and the Sea Otter Classic. Supersession will be 3 days of riding at the premiere action sports training center on the west coast. The entry includes meals and drinks. Entries are limited to Pro riders who are over 18.
Entry Fee - $180 Click here to register ($225 after March 15).
CABINS-
If you wish to stay in the cabins, it will be $37.50 per night. The cabins are like a camp dorm with bunk beds
with 15 people per cabin. It's a lot of fun and a good bonding experience. You will need to bring a sleeping
bag and pillow if you are staying in the cabins. Click here to register. Enter how many nights you need in
the Quantity space and list the nights you want in the Special Requests.
THE LODGE-
Hotel rooms are available at the lodge for $100 per night (per room, not per person).

Ok, combining 2 posts into 1:Supersession 4 was cancelled, which sucks because that's the event of the season, and because it takes place at Woodward West.
But, Nick picked the weekend up by organizing a Replacement Jam in San Diego that same weekend. It's not a contest, just a 3-day jam including dirt, park, and street. That Saturday is also Rick Nolte's birthday party. If you don't know him already, he's the dude whose been behind most of the ThrashBike jams. He rocks and has the photos on his phone to prove it, just ask him...

As I'm sure everyone's heard, Mike Aitken, one of the best riders around had a horrible crash recently and is not in good condition. It really hurts to see another rider down, but the best thing we can all do is show our support by contributing to a fundraiser that a bunch of his close friends are putting on.They're having a trail jam at "Rancho Relaxo" next weekend to raise some money for him...the entry fee is $20.00 and there will be trails and a good time. It's in PA, but follow one of these links, probably the first one, to get the nitty gritty. I'll be there for sure, hope to see you too.

The bike world is filled with events in fall, it seems. I guess everyone is getting their fix before winter grips the land. I didn't know of Jumptoberfest at Highland went down until I caught the video on Vital. Here's the video, because the trails look sweet. Not much mountain biking, if any, but it's got 20" dudes ripping the trails to shreds.-Mark

Diabloween went off last weekend! It was my first, but it definitely won't be my last. There can't be many things more fun than riding with a bunch of people dressed in rediculous costumes. Me, Nick, and Dan pulled out our NJ Dirt baseball jerseys from a past Diabloween that never happened (for us anyways), and rode in those all day. George Ryan took first as Michelangelo the bad-ass ninja turtle that can do backflips. I forget who got second, but Dave from NYC took third dressed as something I can't remember, riding Lower Dominion (and the rest of the mountain) brakeless. Nick posted some pics at the link below, and then I found a video from the day, also below. The quality is bad, but what can you do?Nick's Pix
See all of you there next year!!!!

Be There! I've tried to go before, only to have the whole thing cancelled because of high winds. I expect the powers that be to hold off the rain for this weekend so we can all have some fun before the frost sets in. So, click the flyer to see it big, and I'll be seeing you there.Click it to pick it

It's sad, because it really is a funeral. Little Devil is done--but I guess they'll be focusing on Orchid 100% now. All good things must come to an end, and at least they are doing it with a party where you don't have to wear black. Check the flyer below. Nick is coming down to my place in Delaware and from there it's an hour to the funeral, so hope to see you there!Think I could go dressed up as a mountain bike rider or would that not work? Mwahahahaha

It's been a while, I know. I'm going to try to start getting more quality updates on here again. For now, I'm posting a couple of pics that my buddy Jeff took from the jam. The jam wasn't hyped up or advertised too much so it was really more of a chill session at an awesome concrete park. (Anthem Skatepark, if you're ever in Vegas...) Everybody did compete though, and here's how things turned out:
1) Adam Hauck
2) Carter Holland
3) Micah (no last name, sry dude)
Best Trick: Carter Holland with a huge transfer line (see pic)
Carter's Gap

Carter doin' an x-up on the hip

Micah, toboggan. Met him last December at Supersession, then ran into him wandering down the strip. Small world eh?

Micah, tuck no hander on the hip.

Hauck, tailwhip to tire tap. Adam ate it manualing across a 4" strip of coping that had to be 9 feet up and he dropped all the way down. It was burly, especially onto concrete, but he walked it off.

Nick, looking smooth. The trick, not his ass. Shit.

I don't even know. Looks like it's about to be a jaw full of concrete in a second, but I think he's coming around on a 360.
Thanks for letting me use your bike Micah, and let me know your last name so I can fix things straight.

This is going down right after Interbike in Sin City's best skatepark (so I'm told). See you there. Link to some photos I found of the park -- on some skateboard site.

Ever notice that when you're hurt and can't ride your bike, a day feels like a week? My shoulder's kept me grounded for 5 days, and all I can do is think about riding...Sorry for the lack of updates on here. The Thrashbike Dirty Mitten Jam went down a while ago, and I've heard that it was a good time. Once videos and photos surface, I'll pull them onto here, promise.
I also failed to mention much about the Brawlin' at the Belmar, in NY on here. Everybody's probably seen this already, but if not, check the video. The video doesn't show it, but I heard that Guettler got second with a double flip and Brian Foster took first with [maybe, I think] a 720. Here's the video. Pay close attention at 1:32.
